Aerial Photography, Satellite and Remote Sensing Imagery
The Libraries own aerial photographs, and have access to various other types of imagery.
Aerial Photography Photography of Ohio counties, dating from the 1930s to 1970s are available for users' research. Some are available in scanned form. All dates may not be available for all counties. Use my contact information at the right for questions.
Satellite Imagery Images for Ohio are available for many dates from the Landsat 7 satellite, through Ohio View. Imagery may be available also from other sources, such as the European SPOT Satellite. Use my contact information at the right for questions.
Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps Specialized maps that can be used with imagery, show building types and materials. Available for Ohio through OhioLINK.
Imagery Sources and Servers
- LANDSAT 7 Satellite Image Server
Ohio based satellite data captured by Landsat 7 since the first data sets were available in 1999. A new 'snapshot' of the state is captured every 16 days and includes images with 30% or less cloud cover. - Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps Large-scale street plans of Ohio communities, from 1867-1970. Show the outline of each building with street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers.
